Suzette Cassey

Suzette Cassey is the General Manager of Dermalogica Australia and has been since the company expanded into the Australian market thirteen years ago.

She transformed a little known brand into a household name by marketing quality professional skincare products to the consumer. Today there are 110 people in the company and the brand appears in almost every fashion magazine and industry publication.  

Prior to working for Dermalogica Ms Cassey spent four years working for Kraft who were the sponsors of the WTA (Women's Tennis Association) in a sports marketing capacity, helping them leverage the sponsorship on the international tennis circuit.

1.      What was your first job?
Working as a secretary in the marketing department of a large hotel group in South Africa

2.      What did you want to be when you grew up?

An air 'hostess' as we used to call them in those days.  All that travel sounded very exotic!

3.      What does your job involve now?

Working on a daily basis with a team of managers from Marketing, Sales, Education , Finance and Distribution to achieve company objectives.   

4.      Are you thinking of trying your hand in anything else?

My  husband and I often talk about starting a business together so who knows!

5.      What is the biggest challenge you face at work?

There is no single major challenge - probably exploring different ways to maintain our position as industry leader.

6.      What is the best part of your job?

Getting positive feedback from staff and customers about our company. 

7.      What is your advice for people starting out in your industry?
Small steps at a time – Rome wasn't built in a day.

8.      What makes you happy?
A good book, a glass of wine as the sun goes down and anything that keeps my kids happy!
