Here are just some of the features that make up your online career network
Three dimensional slice and dice search
We are the first in Australia to have three dimensional slice and dice search and what it allows you to do is amazing! It takes you on a journey. Your journey. You can begin your search at any level, and you can keep refining it as you go along. You can also move backwards which is a surprisingly great way to explore your future!
We enable you to build a professional career profile on our site with your own URL. You can use ‘My Broadcast’ to highlight your unique knowledge, skills, abilities, expertise, experience and career plans. ‘My Broadcast’ is a bit like the career equivalent of MySpace or Facebook. It gives you the ability to broadcast yourself to the world.
Use it to network, to house your resume, to make your resume publicly searchable so employers can find you (if you want to), as a host for video resume, to link and display examples of your work, to link to your website, to tag yourself, to bookmark people, companies and jobs. You can also set up a selection of job searches that match criteria that is important to you. The site will feed these intuitively to you as new jobs are posted. You may never have to search again and you can be certain not to miss the jobs you are looking for.
We enables you to record a live video for either a video cover letter, a video email, a video resume, or simply a video about you that you can broadcast publicly. All you need is a webcam and a computer.
Far beyond the broad categories of north, south, east or west, we list each job by postcode. You can enter in the postcode where you would like to work. Your search results are then shown in 5 km bands, with integrated mapping (if the advertiser has used this feature). You can quickly identify a truly local job without having to sifting through a myriad of jobs in irrelevant suburbs.
We are an early adopter of job referral. We strongly believe in the value of social networking. We believe, by leveraging your networks, you have the ability to recommend your friends or colleagues to jobs that they might not be aware of AND get something for yourself. Our advertisers can offer our members referral rewards for recommending someone who successfully applies and is placed into a job advertised on the site.
This is the express lane of job search. A dedicated area for jobs that need filling immediately – those urgent, crisis positions. JOBNow jobs don’t follow the same long resume application process. These jobs must be filled within 3 days of listing. Most of the communication will be done via telephone, SMS or email.
We are one of the early adopters in Australia of AJAX technology. It gives our users a much more fluid and dynamic experience. It speeds up the site’s ability to refresh and capture data without any waiting period. This means it allows people to find each other quickly and easily.
Sick of searching multiple databases or URL’s for the same job? Those days are over. We have a very efficient and very fast database. Whether you are an executive, blue collar, part timer, first job seeker or just looking for some casual work. It’s all here in one place for you.
We are the first in Australia to separate ‘industry’ from ‘profession’ and ‘role’. What this means is that you will not get all industry roles thrown into one bucket when you search. This just makes you waste time on the site. For example, you can search for a financial controller (role) in the accounting (profession) in the media (industry). Simple!
We have partnered with a large number of industry experts to allow us to bring you the best content possible. Relevant content that is brought to you by the experts.
Training & Education
We believe firmly in encouraging personal and career growth. We offer extensive integrated training & education, industry seminars & events, industry associations and reference material and its all here for you get your hands on when you need to.
In ‘My Broadcast’ you can highlight that you are a contractor and maintain your current assignments, along with when you will next be available. This will allow you to be more visible and get that next assignment.
In ‘My Broadcast’ you can include your current directorships. With this up to date, it will allow you to be more visible and get that next seat on the board.
Our blog and networking areas will encourage members to communicate with each other, with advertisers, with education facilities etc. Advertisers can put themselves in the networking arena so applicants can find them in a more subtle way. Ours is a complete user community.
Tagging - advertiser
Advertisers can ‘tag’ jobs so they increase the candidates that will find them. For example, if they are listing a Financial Controller, they may also ‘tag’ it as a Finance Manager or any other title that might fit that role. Tagging means the job will intuitively present itself to applicants that might describe the position in a different way to how it has been advertised.
Tagging - member
Members can ‘tag’ themselves to make it easier for them to connect with other users. For example, if you are a whiz at developing Web 2.0 sites, you might tag yourself as ‘Web 2.0’. You might be a ‘brand strategist’. Maybe your work history included a stint at ‘apple’. ‘Goal oriented’ might sum you up best. Whatever ‘tags’ you think will best sum up your uniqueness, skills, personality or goals will also help you expand your career network. Tagging allows you to connect with people, advertisers or companies through a few relevant words or phrases.
Salary & benefits information
This site structure is the first online business to capture at the source of the job ad, a significant amount of detail on salary and benefits. Jobs can also be searched using salary criteria.
We have partnered with Verify CV to provide a resume checking service that ensures the information included in candidates’ resumes is legitimate. It could save you a costly mistake.
We enable advertisers to communicate their employer brand like never before. Web 2.0 technology means that advertisers can interact directly with members through posting a video detailing their values, environment and offerings. So much more powerful than a flat advert. We expect video posting to become a big way to connect members and advertisers. Advertisers can also link to their own sites for relevant content on their credentials as an employer: their memberships, awards they have won, community service or environmental credentials etc.
Rate the advertiser
We want to make sure our members receive the best job seeking experiences in Australia. This initiative will allow advertisers to double their visibility and message by making the grade on 'rate the advertiser'. It will make advertisers accountable for how they interact with candidates. We will display their current rating on their profile. It’s an ideal platform to increase an organisation's visibility to members.
We allow advertisers to ‘bookmark’ members and follow their career progress, so even if they are not quite right for a current position, you can see what they are up to in a year or two. It’s an ideal way to keep track of the best talent around. Members can 'bookmark' advertisers. When a job comes up with an organisation they want to work for, they will be the first to know.
My Desk is especially for the advertiser. It will update you on your confidential statistics including the number of jobs you have placed, application success rate, average applications per ad, what words worked in your tags and what words were tagged in your ads. It’s an advertisers complete control panel.
